How Do I Get My Scanner to Scan Continuous

When you scan documents more than the amount that can be loaded in the ADF paper chute (cover) on the ScanSnap, if you divide the documents in multiple batches and scan them continuously, you can create a single scanned image that contains all of the documents.

  1. Open the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Hold the right side of the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap then open it or press the [Scan] button to turn it on. Open the feed guide of the ScanSnap to turn the power on. Press the [Scan] button or [Stop] button on the ScanSnap to turn the power on.

    Open the ADF paper chute (cover) fully so that the [Scan] button lights up in blue.

    When the ADF paper chute (cover) is opened, the extension will rise automatically.

  2. Pull the stacker towards you.

  3. Pull out the extension and the stacker on the ADF paper chute (cover). Pull out the extension on the ADF paper chute (cover) and open the stacker. Pull out the extension.
  4. Click the [Scan] button at the top of the Main Window of ScanSnap Home to display the Scan Window.

    Mac OS

    If the main window is not already displayed, click the [ScanSnap Home] icon ScanSnap Home Icon in the application list that appears when you click Launchpad in the Dock.

  5. In the Home screen on the touch panel, select a profile from the profile list. Select a profile from the profile list.

    You can create a new profile or modify the settings for a profile according to the purpose of scanning documents.

    HINT

    • When multiple users share one ScanSnap unit, make sure that a profile that was created with another computer is not selected.

      You can switch to the profile list which displays only profiles created with the computer that is using the ScanSnap.

  6. Specify the feeding method.

    When the feed mode setting icon displayed on the right side of the [Scan] button on the touch panel is Normal scan or Manual scan, select [Continuous scan] in the [Feed mode setting] screen that is displayed when the icon is pressed.

  7. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover). Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) or insert a document into the manual feeder. Load documents in the ADF paper chute (cover) of the ScanSnap.

    Load the documents face-down and top-first with their back facing you. Adjust the number of documents so that they do not go beyond Mark That Indicates the Maximum Number of Documents to Be Loaded within the side guides when they are loaded.

    • When scanning documents all at once (U-turn Scan)

      Load the documents in the ADF paper chute (cover), and align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

      Load the document face-up and head-first with the front facing you (when loading multiple documents, the first page is on the top).

      Hold each side guide in the middle to adjust them. Otherwise, the documents may be fed skewed.

      ATTENTION

      • Make sure that the document support tab is open.

        Otherwise, a paper jam may occur.

        If the document support tab is closed, pull it up with your fingers.

      • If the document support tab comes off, contact the distributor/dealer where you purchased this product.

    • When scanning documents one by one (Return Scan)

      Insert a document into the manual feeder.

      Face the front side of a document upwards and insert the top end of the document straight into the middle of the manual feeder.

      Make sure that the document is fed into the ScanSnap and is held firmly.

      Inserting a Document

      ATTENTION

      • The document comes out from the back of the ScanSnap during the scan.

        Leave space (about the length of the document) at the back of the ScanSnap.

      • You can scan a document with the ADF paper chute (cover) closed.

  8. Align the side guides with both ends of the documents.

    Hold each side guide in the middle to adjust them. Otherwise, the documents may be fed skewed.

  9. Press the [Scan] button to scan the documents. Press the [Scan] button to scan the document.
  10. After the documents you loaded are scanned, load the next batch of the documents in the ADF paper chute (cover).

  11. After scanning is complete, load the next documents or insert the next document in the ScanSnap and press the [Scan] button.

    Repeat step 7 until all documents are scanned.

    When the document is inserted into the manual feeder, scanning starts automatically.

    HINT

    • To start a scan manually by pressing the [Scan] button when a document is inserted into the manual feeder, clear the [Automatically scan the second and subsequent sheets during a continuous scan] checkbox in the [Manual feeder] tab in the [Feed option] Window when you configure the settings for a profile.

  12. Press the [Scan] button to scan the documents. Press the [Scan] button to scan the document.

    Repeat steps 8 and 9 until all documents are scanned.

    HINT

    • You can change the feeding method by pressing the feed mode setting icon in the screen for checking whether to continue a scan.

      When scanning the following types of documents, change the feed mode setting to [Manual scan].

      • Documents folded in half

      • Envelopes

      • Documents with sticky notes attached

      • Documents with multiple sheets overlapped such as transfer paper

      • Long page documents such as long receipts

      • Plastic cards

  13. Press the [Finish] button. In the window of ScanSnap Home, where the "Load the next document." message is displayed, click the [Finish Scanning] button. In the window of ScanSnap Home, where the "Load the next document." message is displayed, click the [Finish Scanning] button or press the [Scan] button on the ScanSnap to finish scanning the document.

The image created from the document that you scanned is saved in the folder which is specified for [Save to] in the profile.
